Powys Eye Care Liaison Officer

Keira's Brook's role is to ensure that residents of Powys who are affected by sight loss and their families have all of the support and information that they need. She does this by working to actively identify patients with a sight loss and ensuring that they are aware of and supported to access all of the practical, social, emotional and financial support that they require.

She works mainly within the ophthalmology clinics at the community hospitals at Ystradgynlais, Brecon, Llandrindod Wells and Llanidloes. For those who are not attending a clinic she provides a telephone based service. She cannot attend people's homes due to the large area she covers.

Being based in clinics allows Keira to ensure at the earliest stage possible that links are made from health into social care. However an important part of her role is to support people who are in the community and not part of the hospital system. This is where she relies on other agencies to provide extra information or support.

If you have any clients with a sight loss or eye condition please keep the ECLO service in mind! No query is too small and if someone does not want to be referred to Keira directly please do still contact her and she will pass you any info she can.

RNIB Cymru work in partnership with Powys Teaching Health Board. Since April 2017 the ECLO service has been commissioned by PTHB.
