Welsh Government Warm Homes Nest News Update
Welsh Government Warm Homes Nest scheme contract awarded
The Welsh Government Warm Homes Nest scheme provides all households in Wales with access to advice and support. This includes a referral for eligible householders for free home energy efficiency improvements such as a new boiler, central heating system and insulation.
Following a competitive tendering process, the Welsh Government has awarded the contract to deliver its Warm Homes Nest scheme to British Gas. British Gas has been delivering the Nest scheme since 2011.

Practical information to identify falls risks and those at risk of falling
Understanding of where people can get support to reduce their risk of falling
Skills and techniques useful in starting conversations about falls
Objectives:
Recognise widely that ‘falls are not an inevitable consequence of growing older’ and we can reduce the incidence of falls in Wales
Develop a primary falls prevention resource that lowers the risk of falling in the community
Make our resource, consistent and sustainable, by establishing a nationally co-ordinated network of local falls prevention champions
This FBI training Course is endorsed by the Falls Prudent Health Care Prevention Taskforce; with materials hosted by the Ageing Well in Wales website. Produced by Craig Jones and Dr. Sarah jones (Public Health Wales).

Welsh Emergency Department Frequent Attenders Network Event
A national event looking at frequent attenders to health care facilities – namely, A&E, GP Out Of Hours, GP practices and Welsh Ambulance Service.
They recognise that frequent attenders have many drivers for their attendances, and lots of them have complex histories including trauma, isolation, insecure housing, adverse childhood experiences, poverty and so on. Ongoing work has shown the significant positive outcome of having 3rd sector, voluntary organisations, community groups and charities involved in the solutions, by helping embed frequent attenders back into their local community. they would like to see this replicated across Wales with the Frequent Attender Services being set up in each health board area.
They are launching their national programme, which is based on successful multi-agency work with these patients across the full spectrum of agencies and are just over 2 weeks away from their national event in Cardiff on 26th April. The event is free to attend and will be an opportunity to work within geographical areas, making new professional relationships across health, other public sector agencies, and a whole range of supporting agencies

- A relaxed agenda for the day includes lunch and opportunity to experience:
- Meditation
- Pamper sessions like massage and manicure
- Dementia friends session
- Reminiscence corner
- Arts & crafts session
- Outdoor light activities – weather permitting
Any Carer interested need to get in touch with us so that we can finalize the number of attendees and any dietary requirements.

Seeking national third sector representatives - West Wales Regional Partnership Board
The West Wales Regional Partnership Board, established under Part 9 of the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act, brings together partners from Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire County Councils, Hywel Dda University Health Board with third and independent sector representatives, users and carers. It oversees the transformation and integration of care and support in the Region.
We are looking to recruit an additional user representative, a second carer representative and a third sector representative with a national perspective, to join the Board. Monitoring & Evaluating your Organisation
Monday 23rd April (half day, Newtown)
Cost: £10 (PAVO members), £20 (Non PAVO members/Third Sector), £30 (All other/individuals)
Aims:
To enable participants to understand the purpose and application of monitoring and evaluation systems
Content: The session will look at why organisations need to monitor and evaluate their work, who needs this information and how to put an evaluation framework in place which will help you report on your organisation’s achievements.
Learning outcomes:
By the end of the session, participants will understand:
What can be measured
The different methods of measurement
How to design a simple monitoring and evaluation system
Preparing for Volunteers
Wednesday 23rd May (full day, Llandrindod)
Cost: £20 (PAVO members), £40 (Non PAVO members/Third Sector), £60 (All other/individuals)
Content: The course looks at what makes for a good volunteering policy and what this should include; also to what other policies might be
required in relation to volunteers. An overview is given of legal context for involvement of volunteers, with emphasis on the need to avoid unwittingly creating a contract of employment with volunteers and on the duty to keep volunteers safe.
